Alcohol and drugs on the road are a danger to life and limb. In 2020, in Gelsenkirchen alone, we punished 728 violations of road traffic regulations involving alcohol and/or drugs. In the same period, there were 132 accidents in which intoxicants played a decisive role. In some cases, people were seriously injured.
The Gelsenkirchen police, Gelsenkirchen fire department, Bogestra, Taxi-Gelsen and the Association of Funeral Directors are now jointly appealing to citizens for the first time to leave their car or motorcycle at home if they have consumed alcohol or other intoxicating substances.
The right choice for getting home from the party is the bus, train or cab. Emergency services, morticians and the police are the worse alternatives.
